Dr Maria Holt is a Reader in Politics in the Department of Politics & International Relations, University of Westminster. She obtained a PhD in Politics from the University of York in 2004.
Dr Holt has conducted research into Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon in terms of memory, identity and change; Muslim women, violence and conflict; women and Islamic resistance in the Arab world; and the British colonial period in southern Yemen. Her latest publications are Women and conflict in the Middle East: Palestinian refugees and the response to violence (London: I B Tauris, 201) and Women and Islamic resistance in the Arab world (Boulder: Lynne Rienner, 2013), with Haifaa Jawad. Her current research focuses on the role of violence against women in conflict in the Muslim world.
