London Metropolitan University is one of the largest universities in the country, with over 18,000 students. The university is based on two main campuses, one north of the City of London, in Islington, and the other, where the conference will be held, on the border of the City of London and the East End of London.
The Politics and International Relations (PIR) section is a constituent part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. PIR comprises 13 full-time academic members of staff plus a number of hourly-paid lecturers. Research and teaching interests include: religion and politics, democratisation and democracy, international relations and the area studies, including: Western Europe, the Middle East and North America.
